'Most farmers ready to part land for industries'

Speaking to reporters after inaugurating Environmental Health and Safety Research & Development Centre, he said even those who have raised objections were not opposed to land acquisition, but were staging protests seeking higher compensation.

The government will acquire their lands only after taking their consent once the compensation is finalised, he said. He said the government will exempt stamp duty for such land owners if they decide to purchase the land elsewhere.

Besides, children of such owners will be given seats to study ITI courses with assurance of employment opportunities.

Nirani said the government will take back land allotted to entrepreneurs, who have failed to set up industries. About 480-acre land in Bangalore has been taken back from different persons during the last one year.

Many entrepreneurs bought lands over the last 10 years for industrial purposes all over the State. The government will not allow anyone to use the land acquired to set up industries for doing real estate business, he added.

He said a massive convention, on the lines of global investors meet, is being planned.
