In a memorandum to Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan yesterday, they urged him to take up the issue with his Karnataka counterpart B S Yeddyurappa since it was a case of alleged intimidation and framing of charges against the reporter on flismy grounds.

The signatories said two cases were registered against 'Tehelka' reporter K K Shahina by Karnataka police at Somawarpet and Siddhapura stations under Section 506 of IPC.
According to them, the reporter had gone there to interview some of the witnesses for a story relating to the case.

She was allegedly charged by police since those who interviewed her were said to have disputed the police version of Madani's visit to the Coorg area of Karnataka a few days before the Bangalore blasts.

They alleged that the Karnataka police had acted in a prejudiced manner considering their behaviour towards the reporter when she was in Coorg. On receiving the memorandum, Achuthanandan assured the signatories that he would look into the matter and take up the issue with his Karnataka counterpart.
