Chikku Bukku Tamil (U)

Love lost in transition
Last Updated 03 December 2010, 17:58 IST

Long and winding like the railway line and roads the love-birds take to as they sojourn to reach their remote village, Manikandan’s Chikku Bukku too turns out to be languid and lengthy. Like the railway tracks, Chikku Bukku also runs on twin tracks telling two different love tales in flashback and fast-forward.

Chikku Bukku chugs and chortles to keep audiences awake and interested in its (mis)adventure with fetching cinematography. If one strand revolves around Sekhar, an aspiring cop and Meenaal, daughter of village school headmaster, the second spotlights on Arjun (Sekhar’s son), the swashbuckling DJ-cum-engineer born and bred in London and Anu, the lass in London for studies.

Billed as romantic travelogue Chikku Bukku is all steam sans substance and soul. The famed Colonial Cousins score, too, is not up to the mark.
