Car rams truck, youth killed

A young man was killed when he rammed his speeding car into a truck near Peenya on Friday morning.

Lokesh (23) and his friends were returning to Bangalore in a car from a wedding at Hassan.

Lokesh, a resident of Chikkabanavar, was driving the car at neckbreak speed and lost control when the truck took a turn to enter a transport office.

The car hit the truck and Lokesh sustained severe head injuries. He was shifted to Nimhans where he died.

Verbal duel ends in murder

A retired factory worker was allegedly murdered at Kamakshipalya on Thursday night.
According to police, the victim Narasimhaiah, 56, a retired NGEF employee, had some difference of opinion with his friend-turned-foe, Pradeep.

A verbal duel between the two turned into fisticuffs. In the melee, Narasimhaiah fell on a stone and died of injuries on the spot. Acting on a complaint, Kamakshipalya police have registered a case of murder against Pradeep.

Painter survives bid on life

A group clash in Madivala area left a 25-year-old youth injured on Friday evening. Police identified the victim as Deva, a painter.

According to police, he was attacked by Muthuraj and his friends near UCO Bank at HSR Layout around 5.30 pm.

Deva’s friend Naresh Gowda had borrowed Rs 10,000 from Muthuraju a couple of years ago and had repaid Rs 5,000.

On Friday, Muthuraj demanded the balance amount from Naresh and slapped the latter, as Deva intervened. However, Muthuraj’s friend attacked Deva with a knife.

The culprits are from the same locality and known to each other. They will be arrested soon, police said. Deva is out of danger.

Chains snatched

Two women were robbed in separate incidents in Vijaynagar and Subramanyapura on Thursday. A man snatched a 45-gram gold chain from Uma, a resident of Sarvabhoumanagar, when she was returning home with her daughter.

In another incident in Vijaynagar, two persons on a motorcycle followed Vijaya from RPC Layout and snatched her gold chain worth Rs 1.90 lakh near Kanakanagar.

Biker robbed

Three men accosted a two-wheeler rider and robbed him of his valuables in Jnanabharathi police limits early Friday morning.

The incident took place when Girish from Muriyappanapalya was returning home. They threatened him at  knifepoint and robbed Rs 9,500 in cash, a gold chain and four ATM cards.

Three held for murder

Basaveshwarnagar police have arrested three persons - Naveen 22, Mujahid 25, both from Chikkabanavar, and Arun Kumar, 21, from Jai Bhuwaneshwarinagar - in connection with a murder case.

Police said the trio had stabbed Raghavendra alias Raghu, a resident of Rajagopalnagar, to death near Kanva Wines Centre on November 20.

Raghu and Malla were close friends. Malla had scores to settle with Katte Babu and Uday over some financial matter.

Raghu had threatened Babu and Uday of dire consequences if they did not stop quarrelling with Malla. Enraged, Babu and Uday decided to kill Raghu and took the help of Naveen, Arun Kumar and Mohan.

Student hangs self

Disappointed over his failure to clear examinations, an engineering student allegedly hanged himself at his room on Thursday night.

Abhishek Vyas (21) from Ayyappanagar was a student of Rajiv Gandhi Technical Education Society College near Hebbal. He had failed to clear his sixth semester exams.
Abhishek was found hanging from the ceiling fan in his room.

A death note, purportedly left by him, says he decided to end his life as he failed to clear the exams and no one was responsible for his death, police said.
