4 cocaine peddlers caught

An unidentified prime suspect is at large. Police said the kingpin struck a deal with Brahma Kumar, who worked in a bakery at Balepet, and promised him commission for selling the narcotic. Kumar agreed and started hunting for potential customers. He roped in his friends Jaikrishna, Manjunath and Vasanthumar and asked them to identify buyers, but they failed, police said.

The prime suspect then called Brahma Kumar and informed him he had struck a deal with an African national for more than Rs 60 lakh. He asked Kumar to bring the drug in a car and meet him near BMTC Depot 10 at HRBR Layout in Hennur.

On a tip-off, the police arrested Kumar as soon as he reached the spot. A hunt is on for the prime suspect.

Injured worker dies

A labourer on Friday night died of injuries he sustained when a heap of soil caved in on him while digging a pit at Hulimavu three days ago.

The victim, Hyder Ali (23), had come to Bangalore a month ago from Kolkata. He was staying at Gottigere with his friends.

A contractor had taken up digging work to lay pipelines for the BWSSB at Doddakannahalli. Ali and another worker had piled up soil near the pit. Ali got into the pit and was laying a pipe when soil fell on him and buried him. Other workers quickly cleared the debris, pulled him out and shifted him to a nearby hospital.

2 die in mishap

Two truck drivers died, while another driver sustained severe injuries in a head-on collision between two trucks in Hebbugodi area late Thursday night.

The deceased were Ramesh Babu and Balaraman, aged around 25, both from Tamil Nadu. The injured Muttu is battling for life at a hospital, said police.

Seven held

The City police arrested seven persons over the last few days in connection with a murder and thefts, and recovered bikes, car and jewellery valued at Rs 14 lakh.
