In a written reply, Women and Child Development Minister Krishna Tirath also said the proposed legislation to protect women from sexual harassment at workplaces do not cover domestic workers.

She said the government has received complaints regarding sexual harassment of women at workplaces, but no centralised data and details of such cases is maintained. "There is a proposal to enact a comprehensive legislation to protect women from sexual harassment at all workplaces both in the public and private sector, whether organised or unorganised.

"It is proposed to cover all women who are employed as well as those who enter the workplace as clients, customers or apprentices besides students and research scholars in colleges and universities and patients in hospitals," Tirath said.

Domestic workers working at home are not proposed to be covered, she added.
