Even the accused, Samaresh, raked in some quick bucks by having a CD done that sold like hot cakes in the local market. Sunita, wife of Samaresh, who owns a jewellery shop in Murshidabad, got the shock of her life when neighbours told her of some lewd footage in circulation locally that showed their intimate bed scenes. She literally broke down when she learnt that a CD containing the couple’s steamy bedroom sessions was also in great demand.

Initially, she could not believe that it was their own intimate scenes that her husband had shot in his mobile a few months ago. For, it was only last year that the couple got married and she found no fault in Samaresh making a videography of the bed scenes in his mobile.

On being accused, Samaresh feigned innocence and parried the query. When Sunita flew into a rage, then came the counter-allegation from Samaresh that it was Sunita who engineered the video in collusion with a local youth who ran a cyber parlour.
Unable to bear the insult, she went back to her parent’s place in Berhampur along with her father and lodged a complaint with the police on Saturday. The police swung into action and arrested Samaresh on Sunday.

The police seized Samaresh’s mobile phone and sealed the cyber cafe. The owner of the cafe has managed to give the police the slip. Sunita will shortly move the court for a divorce, her father said.

The incident that sent a shock wave across the district, comes close on the heels of a tragic incident in Siliguri in October when a second year student committed suicide after her boyfriend shot their intimate scenes on his cellphone and put them on the web. The lewd comments from other students of the institute and neighbours drove her to hang herself.

Recently, the police got wind of an MMS showing a teenage tribal being stripped first, forced to parade nude for some distance and molested by several men later.
