New Delhi first in online shopping followed by Mumbai

The country's biggest online trading platform said five eCommerce hubs - New Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Chennai and Bengaluru - are in the forefront of online shopping in India.

Mumbai entrepreneurs sold the most technology gadgets at 47 per cent of all transactions to buyers in India and lifestyle scored on the exports front at 50 per cent of all transactions.

Mumbai sells the most men's wristwatches to global customers to remind them of the speed of life they enjoy. The youth in the commercial capital love western music and buy the most music CDs online from global eBayers, it said.

eBay India revealed that the IT hubs of Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Karnataka are the most wired states in the country from where eCommerce originates the most.

Online shopping is also active in rural towns of the country, it said.
