Two revenue officials have been suspended as they were involved in illegally transferring the government land in the taluk.

Criminal cases will be filed against them, said Tahsildar Raghavendra.

Lakkur hobli’s Revenue officer M A Venkatesh and secretary K C Narayanswamy had illegally transferred 4acres 30 guntas of land in Survey no 108 at Chikkatirupati, a tourist place in the taluk,  to the village’s Gowramma. In the light of this the deputy commissioner had suspended both of them.

In 2007 when Venkatesh was working as the superintendent, he had transferred the land to late T V Krishnegowda’s wife Gowramma. The Revenue inspector in turn had got the khata done after the mutation.

Chikkatirupati village is close to the State’s capital Bangalore and as a result the value of the land is more expensive than gold. An acre of land is now worth Rs one crore. Wherever the land value goes up, the land mafia is not far off. Hence, the transfer of land has given rise to lot of suspicion. It is also clearly established that the officials have joined hands in this incident.

Revenue inspector Venkatesh without ascertaining the family tree, the market value of the land had given Tahsildar transfer rights to Gowramma and her family. By doing this, Venkatesh had failed to discharge his duties properly, it is alleged.

When Tahsildar Raghavendra visited the spot and inspected, it came to light that the government land was encroached. Gowramma has been served with notice.
