Chanda's 10-wicket haul spells doom for Goa

Last Updated 10 December 2010, 16:41 IST

At close of play at the GCA Academy ground, Goa reached 319 for eight in their second innings, just 78 runs ahead, with Robin (48 not out) and Amit Yadav (1 not out) at the crease.

Goa had a huge deficit of 241 to cover after Tripura made 353 in their first innings in reply to the hosts' meager 112.

With a full day's play remaining, only weather gods, who made their presence felt today morning, can save Goa from the ignominy of an unexpected defeat.

Earlier, Jakati and Robin raised hopes of a fightback by the hosts but a lapse in concentration by the former at the closing stages of the day has all but shut the doors on Goa.

Jakati was bowled by Timir Chanda in the penultimate over of the day to hand the Tripura medium pacer his sixth scalp of the innings.

Jakati, who joined Robin at the fall of the seventh wicket at 204, made 75 from 154 ball with the aid of 10 fours and a six.

Chanda, who had taken four for 35 in the first innings, has figures of six for 107 in the second.
