Kudige dominates hockey tourney

Kudige dominated the State-level Panchayat Yuva Kreeda Aur Khel Abhiyan (PYKKA) tournament by winning both the boys and girls hockey championships organised at the Chamundi Vihar Stadium here on Sunday.

Displaying their dominance in hockey, Kudige boys team thrashed Dharwad by 4-0, while the girls thrashed Hassan by 3-0.

In the handball tournament, the girls team from Kodagu beat Shimoga by 14-10, while the boys team from Chitradurga outscored Chikkaballapur by 23-14.

Results

Hockey girls

Finals: Kudige beat Hassan by 3-0; Scorers - Vidyalakshmi (7th min), Veena (10th min), and Jyothi (13th min).

Third place tie-off: Bellary defeated Kodagu by 1-0; Scorer - Preethi (5th min).
Semi-finals: Hassan outscored Bellary by 2-1 in a tie-breaker; Scorers - Kruthika and Raghavi.

In the other match, Kudige overcame Kodagu by 2-0; Scorers - Chandana (17th min), Jyothi (37th min).

Hockey boys

Finals: Kudige outplayed Dharwad by 4-0;  Scorers - Mahesh, Jaswanth, Shreyas and Subbaiah.

Third place tie-off: Kodagu defeated Hassan by 5-3.

Semi-finals: Dharwad beat Kodagu by 1-0. In the other semi-final match, Dharwad beat Kodagu by 1-0; Scorer - Suraj R Bijawad.

Handball boys

Finals: Chitradurga beat Chikkaballapur by 23-14; best player - Suja of Chitradurga.
Third place tie-off: Shimoga beat Bangalore Rural by 8-7; best player - Dhruvashetty of Shimoga.

Semi-finals: Chitradurga trounced Bangalore Rural by 19-11; best player - Suja of Chitradurga. Chikkaballapur beat Shimoga by 19-15. Best player - Pradeep K of Chikkaballapur, who scored 15 goals.

Handball girls

Finals: Kodagu beat Shimoga by 14-10; best player - Akkamma K V of Kodagu.

Third place tie-off: Bangalore Rural defeated Ramanagara by 5-2; best player - Jacqueline.

Semi-finals: Shimoga trounced Ramanagara by 14-1; best player - Harshitha of Shimoga.
In another spectacular semi-final match Kodagu showed their dominance against Bangalore Rural by beating them 15-0; best player - Pallavi Rao H.
