Political leaders and people’s representatives in Bidare Gram Panchayat are engaged in calculations regarding the upcoming elections to Zilla Panchayat and Taluk Panchayats.

Meanwhile, children in the Government Primary School at Byadagere here are curising the people’s representatives, who were least bothered to provide basic facilities to the school.

Byadagere (Gandi), a remote village which is about 10 kilometres away from Bidare, neither have proper roads nor have electricity or other basic facilities. The condition of the only school, which was built about 50 years ago, in the village is in such a pathetic condition that it may collapse at any time. However, none of the people’s representatives have the courtesy to visit the school. No initiatives were taken to develop the infrastructure in the school.

The school, which celebrated 50th anniversary, has about 100 students from standard one to seven. Though school requires four teachers, the government had appointed only one teacher. The only achievement made by the people’s representatives is the appointment of a teacher on part-time basis. The dreams of children to acquire knowledge will never be materialised until sufficient number of teachers were appointed.
Teachers show no interest to join the school as there is no basic facilities in the school.

The 50-year-old school building has developed cracks at many places and it may collapse at any time.

Teachers have no other option left, but declaring holidays during rainy days.

Though the school is located in the midst of the forest, it has no compound walls.

Children are scared to sit in the classes as wild animals are seen in the forest. Pipelines were installed, but water was not supplied to the school so far.

Students, who pass the seventh standard in the school, will have to travel 30 kilometres by spending about Rs 75 everyday as there is no high school in the village.
