The victim was spotted by some people at Hoskur Gate on Hosur Road around 11.30 am on Monday. Police are not sure whether she escaped from the clutches of her abductors or was dropped by them near Hoskur Gate. “We are still investigating this aspect,” was all that the Electronic City police handling the case said.

The suspects are said to have pushed the girl from the car and fled. She has sustained injuries on her forehead and hands.

The victim from Ranchi, Chhattisgarh, stays in a house at Pragathipura in Electronic City. She came to Bangalore in August and joined a watch showroom on Hosur Road as a trainee.

She met Sanaur Rehman (30), an MBA graduate from Uttar Pradesh and supervisor at a showroom on Brigade Road, recently through the social networking site Facebook. They became close over the past few months, police said.

Rehman took her to a hotel for dinner on Sunday night. Later, they left for Pragathipura in a bus. They got down at Parappana Agrahara around 11.45 pm and started moving towards Pragathipura on foot. The suspects, who were allegedly drunk, accosted them and threatened them at knifepoint. They thrashed Rehman, pushed him down and fled in a car, added the police.

The police are yet to ascertain the background of the suspects. The victim was subjected to a medical examination to ascertain whether she was raped, police said.

The victim’s sister Sneha Chowdhary, also an MBA graduate, lodged a complaint with the police. Sneha had come to the city recently looking for a job. She too stays in Pragathipura.
