Balakrishnan parries questions on naming Raja

"It was a letter written by Justice Reghupati to the then Madras High Court Chief Justice (H L Gokhale).  How can I reveal the contents of that letter," he said.

Justice Balakrishnan gave this reply parrying questions why he denied last week that the MHC Chief Justice's letter did not not refer to A Raja as the Union Minister who had allegedly tried to use his influence in seeking bail for an accused in a criminal case.

"You must understand I had said that Justice Reghupati has not not written to me as Chief Justice of India.  He has not not written any letter to me. "I was only saying (last week) it is not not a letter written to me.  Chief Justice Gokhale is a good judge.  He has sent a correct report," the former Chief Justice said avoiding questions that Justice Gokhale's report contained Raja's name and why he did not not acknowledge that.

Justice Balakrishnan said there was no no case any any minister had contacted any judge. There was no no such allegation, he said. Last week, Justice Balakrishnan had denied that there was name of any minister in Justice Gokhale's report based on Justice Reghupati's letter.
