Three women held for 'witchcraft'

On Tuesday, a few elders of the Kyalasana Village complained to police about some women performing sinister rituals in their area and threatening the local residents of “dire consequences”.

Acting on the complaint, police picked up Hallur Muniyamma, Lakshmamma and Anjanamma for questioning.

Police search on their houses yielded dolls with nails stuck into them and other paraphernalia said to be used in witchcraft.

Two injured

Two construction workers sustained injuries when they fell from a parapet at an apartment block under construction at Kalappa Block in Basavanagudi, on Tuesday morning. The injured were identified as Shekhar (28) and Babu (22), both from Yadgir.

Basavanagudi police said the two men were standing on the parapet and were watering the concrete wall of the building, when the parapet suddenly caved in, added the police.

Rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, they are stated to be out of danger.
