State tourism minister Nilkant Halarnkar said that three bidders have expressed their interest to set up the facility in Pernem taluka, 30 kms away from Panaji.

"The state will not bear any liability of the facility (golf course)," he said adding that the promoter will have to acquire the land for it.

"We will be just licencing it," he added. The minister said that the private firm will have to build his own infrastructure including arrangement of water to maintain the facility.

The tourism ministry has said that the golf course facility is required in the state as it is sought after by many tourists visiting here. Goa has already taken steps to woo tourists from Japan, who visit India to see places like Taj Mahal in Agra or monuments in Hyderabad.

"We want to get them to Goa too. For that the state needs to put up facilities required for them," Halarnkar said adding a batch of tourists from Japan will come to Goa on December 18.

The delegation of Goa tourism officials, led by Halarnkar, had recently visited Japan to break ice with the tour operators in order to get tourists from Japan to this tourist state.

The minister has also decided to convene all-party meeting to discuss on the future requirement of tourism sector.

Halarnkar said that they will plan how to go ahead in this sector by consulting all the political parties. "We need a proper vision so that we can decide where to invest and how much to invest," he said.

The minister said that he would ask for additional financial allocation for tourism in the ensuing state budget.
