JOIN USPuneeth adds 'power' to fight against crime
On Tuesday, the cops drive to educate masses at Divya Roopa Kalyana Mantapa here in Vijayanagar, got a shot in the arm with none other ‘Power Star’ Puneeth Rajkumar donning stage to do his mite in lessening the burden of law-makers. Vijayanagar police station coming under N R Sub-division had organised the programme.
Recalling his father and doyen of Kannada filmdom Dr Rajkumar’s words, Puneeth said that his father had a great respect towards the police. He appealed to the gathering to co-operate with the sentinels of the society by paying heed to their words. He cautioned against being negligent on roads and gave a clarion call to the people to be always vigil eyed.
Star attraction
Another star attraction of the day was actress Amoolya of ‘Cheluvina Chittara’ fame. She spoke little and mostly charmed the lot gathered to catch a glimpse of the stars. “I can’t deliver any dialogues here, but don’t forget to watch Kannada movies,” was all she said, with her trade mark smile sending people into a tizzy.
The inaugural session was followed by the staging of skits intended to educate people on various tactics practiced by the perpetrators. Earlier, it was truly ‘Appu’s (nick name of Puneeth who is also popular by the same name among his fans) day, with fans and followers vying with each other to see their favourite actor.
Whistles
The hall was full to its capacity and was reverberating with whistles. A group of fans honoured him with a huge garland. Clad in dark green cotton shirt and denim pants, his sartorial style was also a topic of discussion for many, including his swanky car that was parked outside. Fans were watching the same in awe.
Police Commissioner Sunil Agarwal, DCPs (law and order) Basavaraj Malagathi and (Crime and traffic) P Rajendra Prasad and (CAR) M N Prabhashankar were present on the occasion.
