Girl stabbed for deciding to marry against family's wishes

The incident took place in Paharganj area last evening and the victim identified as Chandravati suffered minor injuries in the incident. "The girl got married in the last week of November against the wishes of her family. While she was passing through their locality, her brother Subash spotted her," a senior police official said.

In a fit of rage, the official said, he allegedly stabbed her. "He was angry at the girl for marrying against the wishes of the family," he said. She was rushed to Lady Hardinge Hospital. Her injuries were not of serious nature, the official said. Police recorded her statement and Subhash was arrested.
