Classical music performance

The Padamshree awardee is among the foremost classical vocalists in India. World Music Centre announced a musical extravaganza named Sur Taal that would have the famous artiste performing. The event will also feature international award winning percussion maestro Trilok Gurtu, who will perform a percussion ensemble. Having started his musical journey at a young age of 6, he has attracted a world class set of collaborators over a long career. Begum Parween Sultana would perform in the first part of the evening followed by Trilok.

“We had been trying to get this concert done for some time and finally when Begum Parween agreed it all came together,” said Sangeetha Srikishen, founder World Music Centre.

The concert is a fundraiser for the music school for building their music library. “We are a world music school so what better way than have artistes perform both Indian as well as global music,” said Gopi, founder of the music school.

The event will be held on January 5 at St John’s Auditorium. Tickets are available at the indianstage website, Forum Mall, Koramangala and Crosswords.
