"No Indian, especially Sikh, is involved in terrorist activities in the US," Kalia, the Local Government Industry and Commerce Minister, said here.

"David Coleman Headley, who was involved in 26/11 attack on Mumbai, is an American national. But does this mean we too should bring all Americans under scanner?" he said.

Kalia appealed to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to take up the issue with US President Barack Obama or else he said, "India should respond in the same way."

Sikh turbans, of late, are being checked at the US airports. In a recent incident, India's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Hardeep Puri was reportedly asked by airport officials at Houston to remove his turban during a security check.

However, Puri had sought to downplay the incident saying he did not allow removal of his turban.
