Take action against misuse of water: DC

Speaking at the review meet of the Corporation here, he urged the  corporation officials to register FIR and levy penalty on such units.

To help BPL families to get water connection, he said that the Corporation should charge only for the metre and the Corporation should bear the cost of water.
Use SC/ST grants

He also directed the officials to utilise SC/ST grants while providing water connection to the SC/ST families.

The officials informed that as on September 30, they had collected Rs 991 lakh as water charges. The total water revenue collection for 2010-11 should have been Rs 1,241 lakh.
The DC urged the officials to expedite the work on supplying water to Ullal TMC limits. He also urged the TMC Chief Officer to sign an agreement on water rates by January 1.

Trade license
He said that the last date for the business establishments and traders to get new/renew their licenses is January 15. The Corporation has issued 19,591 trade licenses. Of which, only 18,813 business establishments have renewed the licenses so far.

Expressing displeasure over the non-utilisation of 22.75 per cent SC/ST grants, he said that the officials should spend at least 75 per cent of the total Rs 845 lakh grants available for the development of SC/ST by March.

If the officials fail to utilise the funds, then cases under ‘Prevention of Atrocity against SC/ST’ will be filed against the officials, he warned.
