Councillors frown on delay in road widening work

The Rs 4.5-crore project to widen 2.3 km stretch on K R Puram-Chikkatirupathi should have been completed in four months and the standing committee, during its inspection on Monday noticed little progress.

Contractors taken to task
Committee chairman H Ravindra took the contractor to task and warned the contractor serious consequences in case of further delay and failure to ensure quality.

The Palike officials said that about 24 properties would have to be acquired for the project and the process has been set in motion. A private apartment has encroached on a government land, the officials said.

The standing committee members  inspected the Patalamma temple- Kadugodi Railway station road being widened at a cost of Rs 3.98-crore. The members were of the view that the road had been widened unscientifically and the contract be cancelled if required.
The members then visited the Dr Ambedkar Multipurpose hall being constructed at a cost of Rs five-crore. They also inspected the progress of the Rs two-crore project to construct Railway Under-Bridge (RUB) in Benaganahalli.
