According to official sources, Kalamdi had send out a circular on December 23 to all functional area heads to wind up their work and submit all documents to the record room.

This move, the sources said, was against the Sports Ministry's directive that the OC should stay put till further orders. Comptroller and Auditor General is in the process of auditing OC accounts.

There are about 34 functional heads in the OC and the circular went to all the members, they said.

The functional areas includes administration, overlays, catering, ceremonies, accommodation, finance, accounts and communication among others.

Most of those employed by OC are on private contract and hence there are chances that people might just go into oblivion after being relieved, sources said.

The CBI on December 24 had carried out searches at the residential premises of Kalmadi in the national capital and in Pune in connection with its probe into alleged irregularities in the conduct of the Commonwealth Games. Besides him, the premises of his personal secretary Manoj Bhure in Pune were also searched by the probe agency.

The CBI has filed three cases in connection with alleged irregularities in the Games and have already named Kalmadi's close aide and OC Secretary General Lalit Bhanot for alleged complicity in a Rs 107 crore deal with a Swiss firm.
