JOIN USAddressing a press meet on Tuesday, Tournament President Kanda Bheemaiah, Working President Machamada Dali Changappa and Spokesperson M T Kariappa said a sum of Rs 50 lakh will be spent on hockey utsav. As many as 300 Kodava families are expected to take part.
They said the process of registration of teams will commence from January 15. So far, 282 teams had taken part in the Hockey Utsav. Depending on the number of teams taking part, the tournament date will be fixed. However, the final will be held on May 15.
The logo was released on the occasion. The logo includes Odikathi, peechikathi and gun. The logo has given preference to the Kodava culture.
They said pure drinking water will be supplied to the spectators who visit. The final match will be telecast live on TV and website. A huge screen will be put outside the stadium. This will avoid people climbing the trees and buildings to watch the matches.
The matches will be held in two maidans in Ponnampet. Cultural programmes will be held on the inaugural ceremony. It has been planned to invite Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa to the final or inauguration.
Pandanda Kuttani who started Hockey Utsav will be felicitated. A laser show and fusion music programmes will be held on the finals.
