Woman takes ashramites to the cleaners

Roopa enrolled into the Art of Living Ashram on the Kanakapura Main Road but by the end of the course, she decided to make quick money, targeting the ashram residents, police said.

Using her knowledge of the routine in the ashram and the habits of its residents, she began stealing valuables belonging to them, police said.According to Tilak Nagar police, Roopa, though new to crime, was encouraged by her own success and went on a stealing spree.
Both local and foreigners were her targets, and despite, umpteen cases being registered at Talaghattapura police station, the local police were unable to zero in on the culprit.

Roopa was finally caught when she tried to make purchases at a shopping mall in Koramangala using a stolen card of a multinational bank with a huge credit limit. The cashier becme suspicious and alerted  the Tilak Nagar police.

During interrogations, Roopa, a college dropout, confessed to have got into the business years ago and led a lavish life. A senior officer who investigated the case told Deccan Herald : ‘Dozens of cases have taken place at the Art of Living ashram and now, the case is transferred to Talaghattapura.’
