This follows a statement of Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel on Tuesday that the ministry would shortly finalise eminent persons who will help turn the ailing carrier around.

Sam Pitroda had led India’s telecom revolution in the late 1980s, Murthy is the co-founder of Infosys Technologies, among the top IT companies in the country and Ramadorai is chairman of Tata Consultancy, another IT major of repute and top exporter-outsourcer.

Official sources pointed out that Ramadorai’s name has already been cleared for the role of functional director. “Talks are on with the others as well. As many as seven new directors may be inducted as per plans.”

Along with this, the ministry will look globally for a chief operating officer who will assist the chairman and managing director.

Employees of AI, covered under the Payment of Wages Act and drawing wages up to Rs 10,000 per month, will receive their June wages on July 10. In respect of employees not covered under this Act, they will receive their June salary on July 14, the airline said.
