Software techie commits suicide
According to Mahalakshmi Layout police, she hanged herself when her husband Vinay Morabad had gone to his hometown.
The couple were married for 18 months and had a nine-month-old son, Karthik.
Shwetha’s mother was staying with the couple. Vinay left for Dharwad on December 30, and Shwetha’s mother, Vijaya, went the next day with the baby.
Police said Shwetha had called her husband to wish him New Year and requested him to come back soon, saying she was feeling lonely.
But when Vinay returned on Monday morning, his wife did not answer the door. Worried, he peeped through the window and saw his wife’s body hanging from the ceiling.
Shwetha left no death note, but her parents alleged she took the extreme step due to harassment by Vinay.
According to family sources, Shwetha was upset with her husband as she felt he did not care for her. She wanted to seek divorce.
“Shwetha had expressed willingness to divorce as her husband had stopped responding to her emotions and needs. Moreover, he picked up quarrels over petty issues quite often,” Vijaya told Deccan Herald.
Vijaya said Vinay always acted at the behest of his parents and sister. She said Shwetha was not free to spend her salary of Rs 30,000.
Unable to bear his torture, she had given her ATM card to him eight months ago.
However, many of Vinay’s friends said he was a decent person.
