Tata's Corus to cut 366 more jobs

The move aims “to improve the competitiveness of its Scunthorpe site in Northeast England by aligning employment cost with anticipated steel demand. As a result, 366 jobs are identified as being at risk,” Tata Steel said in statement. Of the total expected job losses, some 1,500 are in the company’s production facilities, including 800 at the engineering steels sites, 370 in Corus Tubes in Britain and the Netherlands and about 375 at downstream rolling and finishing plants in Teesside and Scotland.

Corus will also open consultations on 500 white-collar jobs in the Corus long products division at Scunthorpe.
