Action like never before

The makers of Ready have roped in renowned Thai action director Seelum Pradit aka Nung who has earned laurels internationally thanks to his work in Mountain Tiger, Treasure Island, Rescue Dawn, The Magnificent Five and Marine 2 to work on the film starring superstar Salman Khan.

Along with Indian action director Mahendra Verma, the Thai action team spearheaded by Seelum Pradit are working towards achieving international levels of action sequences.

Says a source, “The Thai action team consists of experts in rigging, flying effects and high-end stunts. They also understand the Indian sensibilities and the kind of action that would appeal to our masses since Pradit has also worked on Indian ads. Salman fans are in for a treat since they will witness him in a unique action avatar on par international standards.”

Adds Bhushan Kumar, “I was always looking for a script which has everything and I found that in Ready. The film has lots of humour. There are mind-blowing action sequences which Salman fans will love. There are a lot of dramatic sequences and we also have a good scope for music. In short, it’s a total masala entertainer with proper story and screenplay.”

Reaching the top

The makers of soon-to-be-released Patiala House have decided to replace their initial posters featuring only Rishi Kapoor and Akshay Kumar with those including the leading lady Anushka Sharma. This movie came after the box-office success of Anushka’s latest film Band Baaja Baraat.

According to sources, the initial posters to be released were to focus only on Rishi Kapoor and Akshay Kumar, who play father and son in the movie. The film is a story based in Southall, London where the Kahlon family has been living for the past four generations. Ruled by an autocratic and stubborn patriarch Bauji, the members of this household have no other choice but to adhere to his ways, rules and philosophy.

The film-makers wanted to portray the same in their first key art poster for their audiences. So they finalised that the poster will feature Rishi Kapoor and Akshay Kumar in order to give an insight about the film and the relationship they share. The poster was all set to be launched but then Band Baaja Baraat released and saw a huge success. The makers of Patiala House decided that Anushka too should feature in the poster. As a result, interestingly now the final poster features Anushka Sharma along with Akshay.

Director Nikhil Advani said, “Anushka is a good actress and we are happy that she is a part of Patiala House. She has proved her talent and charm in her recent hit as well. So all in all, it is going to be a good experience. We were always planning on multiple posters which are now out for the audiences.”

Basketball on cruise

Sonam Kapoor and Akshay Kumar are having a rollicking time shooting for Thank You. In their free time, they indulge in various activities and recently, the two challenged each other to a basketball match on a cruise in Thailand.

“Well I’ve reached Phuket where Sonam and I are shooting a song on a cruise ship for Thank You. I tried playing basketball with her, but she kept saying the ship keeps moving that’s why she couldn’t score, a true heroine of course (sic),” Akshay posted on his Twitter page recently.

“Thank You”, a romantic comedy directed by Anees Bazmee, has an ensemble cast including actors like Bobby Deol, Suniel Shetty, Irrfan Khan, Celina Jaitley and Rimi Sen. The crew will now shoot in Singapore.
