"We see a clear upswing in the domestic job market. Employees across various sections - age groups, cities, income, education etc - are showing an increasing trend in mobility. With both employment and employee preference on an upward curve, 2011 is expected to see a strong positive development in the organised employment sector," Ma Foi Randstad Managing director K Pandia Rajan said today.
Ma Foi Randstad is the largest integrated HR services company and part of the 12.4-billion euro Randstad Group, which the world's second-largest HR services company, based in Diemen, the Netherlands.
While women are the top job seekers, according to the Ma Foi Randstad Workmonitor Wave 4 study that is an indicator of employee mobility, Delhi has the highest mobility index among the major metros. The national capital also has the highest factual job change and the highest job-loss fear figures.
As per the survey, amongst all countries surveyed, India has the highest index of 153 indicating that employees here show the greatest intent to change jobs in the next six months. This is as against 141 recorded in last quarter. India is followed at a relatively large distance of 29 (or more) points by China, Mexico and Chile reflecting a relatively high mobility index in these nations too.
The mobility index is least in the Luxembourg, Germany, Hungary and the Netherlands indicating least employee churn, says the survey. As part of the survey, employees' state of mind was studied in 27 countries in five continents. Apart from the mobility index, the survey looked at trust of employees in the job market, fear of job-loss, job change and readiness to change the job. In addition to these four aspects, the survey also covered related aspects like satisfaction levels and personal motivation levels of the employees.
The survey also revealed that there is a high level of comfort with respect to finding a comparable job in the next six months (90 per cent) as against the comfort level about finding a different job in the next six months (83 per cent).
The study found that while there is an upward trend in the mobility status of women, the mobility status of men has remained stable throughout the year.
The mobility index is high among the senior management and entry-level age groups. The factual job change figures had increased for all age groups in this quarter compared to Q3.
The mobility intent has changed markedly amongst those with moderate education compared to those with higher education. The factual job change is also higher for the middle education group compared to the high education in Q4 and shows a similar trend as Q3.
The mobility index is higher amongst temporary staff and is similar to the trend that has existed in the previous three quarters. The factual job change remains highest for this group like it was in the last quarter.
Again, this group has reported the lowest satisfaction scores and highest comfort in finding a comparable job or a different job in the coming six months. The actual job change is highest among employees in the income group of under Rs 90,000 per annum.
