Speaking to presspersons here on Monday, he alleged “the Election officer had dissolved the meeting owing to the political pressure.”

The Election Officer had directed the CMC Commissioner to file a complaint against 14 BJP members who had created ruckus during the election to the post of CMC President and Vice-President on December 22.

“However, the Commissioner had not named any BJP member who were responsible for tearing the nomination papers in his complaint to the police. Hence the Commissioner is first culprit,” he  alleged.

Nanaiah said “the tearing of nomination papers by snatching from the hands of the Election Officer is an offence. The police have failed to initiate action against those culprits who were responsible for causing hindrance to the election process,” Nanaiah added.

“The officers should discharge their duties impartially in a democratic set up. Creating problems to the proceedings of a meeting is not our culture. Such moves should not be supported by the officials,” he added.
