A Duranto train for Bangalore

In her reply to the debate on railway budget in Lok Sabha, the minister also announced that stations in Bidar and Gulbarga would be upgraded as ‘Adarsh’ stations. Referring to other Karnataka-related projects, she said doubling of Raichur-Guntakal and Gooti-Renigunta were being implemented by the Rail Vikas Nigam Limited on fast-track. Priority would be given to Kottur-Harihar and Hassan-Bangalore new line, gauge conversion of Shimoga-Talaguppa and doubling of Ramanagaram-Mysore.

Banerjee pointed out that there had been many requests from the Karnataka government and MPs from the State and said she was considering some of them. She also replied to the points raised by BJP MP from Bangalore South Ananth Kumar over step-motherly treatment to Karnataka and referred to the Duranto train to Bangalore. “Karnataka has got 12 new trains, four extensions of trains, one increase in frequency etc” she added.
