UP girl, set on fire after molestation bid, dies

Twenty-year old Sangeeta suffered third degree burns and was admitted to a hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday evening, police sources here said.
According to sources, Kalu Lal, who was Sangeeta’s neighbour, had tried to molest her a few days ago when Sangeeta had gone to the fields but the girl managed to escape and reported the matter to her parents.

Although Kalua had threatened her against approaching the police, she later lodged a complaint with the local police.

An enraged Kalu barged into Sangeeta’s house on Tuesday evening and dragged her out after overpowering her parents. He later set her ablaze after pouring kerosen oil over her body.

She was rushed to the district hospital and was later referred to the Aligarh Muslim University medical college.
