IIMB admission shortlist cut-off is 90 percentile

It takes into account CAT scores and academic achievement
Last Updated 13 January 2011, 18:25 IST

The shortlist has been released a day after the CAT results were announced on Wednesday by the Indian Institutes of Management.

This year IIMB has prepared the shortlist by taking into consideration CAT scores, academic achievement, and work experience. The corresponding weight assigned for each are as follows: CAT=20, 10th board=15, 12th board=10 and Bachelors=15.

For preparing the shortlist, IIMB first considers only those candidates who have secured 90 percentile overall in CAT scores, along with 80 percentile in Quantitative, 80 percentile in Data Interpretation, and 90 percentile in Verbal.

Normalised

To take into account the differences in standards across different schools boards, scores in Class 10 and Class 12 will be normalised using statistical methods. Candidates who have completed CA/ICWA/ACS courses will be given additional weight. Besides this, work experience will carry upto 5 points for consideration for personal interview.

Parameter

The shortlist for the PI round will be prepared by taking into consideration all the above factors. In addition, the top candidates in each sectional and total score in CAT, adjusted Class X, Class XII, Bachelors, and professional courses will also be eligible for PI.

This is done to ensure that those students who have performed exceptionally well on one parameter make it.

PI round

Candidates who have qualified to the PI round will have to write a short note of one page on a topic provided by IIMB. About half an hour will be provided for candidates and the topic will be on a current political, economic or business.

The note will then be evaluated by two interviewers, with each candidate being evaluated on his or her performance during the personal interview.
