<p>The Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa dedicated a state-of-the-art fire station complex at Hebbal Industrial area here on Sunday.<br /><br /> Software giant Infosys Technologies has constructed and developed the campus with a total investment of ` 4.5 crore to cater to needs of fire accidents and related issues in the industrial area. <br /><br />The fire station is the first of its kind with five garages, two officers’ quarters, 12 staff quarters and full-fledged office space. The office is constructed in two floors, fully furnished with computers, a lobby for visitors, officer’s cabin, a training room, a communication centre, storage space, pantry, rest rooms and a workshop for vehicle maintenance. It also has a dormitory with nine sets of bunk beds with locker facilities, changing and rest rooms, a television room and a gymnasium. <br /><br />Besides, the station has got several other amenities with parade ground and a volleyball court. The area is surrounded by beautiful landscaping with different varieties of plants and trees. <br /><br />In his address, Yeddyurappa said the fire station was a model for the entire country. He appreciated the gesture of the Infosys Technologies and its corporate social responsibility. “If all the private sector companies could join hands with the Government, the state could well march on the path of progress and development. The corporates should cooperate with the Government in development works as part of their corporate social responsibility,” he said and added that government will support more of such partnership projects in coming days. <br /><br />On the occasion, Kris Gopalakrishnan, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Infosys Technologies said the contribution of firemen to society often goes unnoticed. <br /><br />“Our objective is to acknowledge and appreciate the efforts of firemen who risk their lives to save others. Our firemen deserve better facilities and we hope infrastructure developed here become a norm in the future,” he said. <br /><br />Jija Madhavan Harisingh, Additional Director General of Police, Fire Services and Home Guards said the station was initially sanctioned and opened at the premises of Bharatiya Reserve Bank Note Mudranalaya Limited at Metagalli Industrial area in the year 2000. <br /><br />Due to delay in responding to fire and emergency calls in view of security restrictions at RBNML it was decided to shift the station. <br /><br />Medical Education and District In-charge Minister S A Ramdas, Minister for Forests C H Vijayshankar, Housing Board Chairman G T Devegowda, Regional Commissioner Jayanthi, Deputy Commissioner Harsh Gupta, IGP(Southern Range) A S N Murthy and others were present.</p>
