HC rejects bail petition of Veerappan's wife

 The High Court has rejected the bail petition of Muthulakshmi, wife of forest brigand Veerappan in connection with various cases in Chamrajnagar district.

Muthulakshmi, who was arrested by the State Police in 2009 had challenged the rejection of her bail plea by the lower court in January 2009.

She was arrested in connection with various cases such as the attack on Ramapura Police Station on May 19, 1992 by Veerappan and his associates which led to the death of five police personnel. Muthulakshmi is accused number 56 in this case.

Muthulakshmi is accused number 120 in the incident which led to the killing of Police officers Hari Krishna, Shakeel Ahmed and others. A total of 166 persons have been arrested under Terrorists and Disruptive Activities (prevention) act- 1987 (TADA). The incident took place on August 14, 1992.

She is accused no 94 in the Palar bomb blast case. The incident occurred on April 9, 1993 where a police vehicle was exploded and had resulted into death of 22 persons including 15 informants, five police personnel and two forest officials.

Muthulakshmi was arrested on November 25, 2008 at Muthupalam in Tamil Nadu and was produced before Chamrajnagar Court, where her bail plea was rejected. She had moved the High Court challenging the rejection. However the Court has upheld the lower court order.
