CFI hopes to regain National body status

“Why the government refuses to recognise us, I don’t know. But we have been doing everything we can to help the sport in the country with the order of the court,” Gania said on the sidelines of the CFI-promoted BSA Hercules India Cyclothon here on Sunday.

“I don’t know why Gill did that to us. Probably... there was a political aspect to it. Anyway now he’s not in charge and we see a lot of hope in Maken. It’s wrong to say that we did not do well.

“We actually recorded much better times at these Games. We are not yet up to the level of international cyclists and that will take time but I’m sure we will get there,” Gania said when asked about India’s performance at the Delhi Commonwealth Games.
