On January 31, 2011, Rajeev Bakshi, chief of Metro Cash & Carry (former India chief of Pepsico) will deliver a talk on why the advertising community needs to change with the changing time.

This lecture series was started in 1980 by MAA Group Chairman Bunty Peerbhoy in memory of his late father Ayaz Peerbhoy who was one of the stalwarts in the advertising world in Bombay. Over the years several well known names like Gurcharan Das of Procter & Gamble, Subhas Ghosal of Contract Advtg Agency, Charles D Peebler Jr, Chief Executive Officer, Bozell Worldwide, R Gopalakrishnan, Executive Director, Tata Sons Ltd, Rakesh Mohan, Deputy Governor, Reserve Bank of India, David Bell, Chairman, The InterPublic Group, Harsh C Mariwala CMD, Marico Ltd have delivered talks in this lecture series.

Talking to Deccan Herald, Bunty Peerbhoy pointed out that the speakers in this memorial lecture series always deliver thought provoking, hard hitting talks which are meant to provoke and wake up people from the advertising and marketing world.

“In this years talk Bakshi will tell the ad executives why they need to change drastically in line with what is relevant today,” said Peerbhoy. “People in the advertising trade have their head dug in the sand and believe that everything is same and nothing has changed. They need to wake up to the reality that the way their clients do business has completely altered.”
