The centre, scheduled to open in March, will be first of its kind developed by any IT firm in North America. The software solution will seek to cut down energy consumption bill of Canadian firms.
Wipro Technologies Canada unit Vice President & Country Head Chris Lord said “with Ontario provincial government giving enhanced attention on green energy we visualised that we could play a role in developing software solutions in eco-energy services. This prompted us to come out with dedicated center solely catering to development of software solutions for efficient energy consumption management.
Currently, Wipro Canada is providing wide range of software solutions for 40 firms comprising some of the leading Canadian firms engaged in wide spectrum of economic activities.
The Toronto Centre will also develop software solutions in wide range of eco-energy services like renewable and green energy, green architectural planning and design and energy engineering solutions.
On growth strategies, Lord claimed “Opportunities are tremendous in Canada. Many of our US-based clients have operations in Canada. Many Canadian companies have operations globally aligned to Wipro’s delivery operations. We are in constant touch with them to get projects from them.” “Besides, many global companies are headquartered in Canada. We will tap their software requirements in various fields,” he said.
