5,000 Congress workers from taluk attend rally in B'lore

The party had organised the rally to demand that Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa should resign over allegations of corruption and favouritism.

Vehicles had been arranged to Bangalore for the convenience of those attending the rally. Though much publicity was not given for the rally, thousands of party workers gathered in front of the Town Municipal Council office by 8 am.

Only 30 vehicles were arranged, leading to a shortage. Many of the party workers left for the capital in their own vehicles. The rally coincided with the 63rd death anniversary of Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. The party workers observed silence for a couple of minutes, after leaders garlanded the statue of Gandhiji, in front of the Town Municipal Council office.

The party workers then started on their journey to Bangalore shouting slogans against the BJP government led by Yeddyurappa.

K M Narayanaswamy, owner of S N Resorts and Congress leader, Town Municipal Council President K Chandra Reddy, Zilla Panchayat member Ramachandra, block Congress President Parthasarathy and JCB Narayanappa led the workers from the taluk for the Bangalore rally.
