“We are closely monitoring the situation. The view of government of India is that developments in Egypt are an internal matter of that country," External Affairs Minister S. M. Krishna said here.

Krishna said the government was willing to provide all help to Indians wanting to come back to India and he had spoken to the Indian ambassador in Egypt. He said there were about 3,200 Indians in Egypt and all them were safe.

Krishna said India has very cordial relations with the government of Egypt.“What is happening there is an internal affair of that country and we do not intend to involve ourselves in the matter of another country," he said.

On the Indian students in US who had been radio-tagged after being duped by a fake university, Krishna said the issue had been taken up with the US officials.

He called for fair and proper treatment of the students who wanted to come back or pursue their studies in other universities and said that the students should be given full access to legal remedies.

"All our students should be treated with courtesy and honourably sent back if they want to return," he said.Krishna said there were thousands of Indian students in US universities and the bilateral cooperation between US and India should not be affected by this incident.
