Titled Thrilling Trio, the event featured the violin-cello duo of Luise Boerner and Laura Hartel of Dresden with popular pianist Berenice Da Gama Rose. The auditorium of Alliance Francaise was jampacked way before time as everyone looked forward to an evening of lovely solos, duets and trios.

Violinist Luise Boerner began training at a young age in Heinrich-Schutz-Konservatorium, Germany. Apart from playing solo, cellist Laura Hartel has performed widely in various orchestras, choirs, ensembles and bands in Dresden, Germany and other countries. And finally, Berenice Da Gama Rose, a gifted soloist, has given two major solo recitals, in addition to a performance of violin-piano music.

Laura and Luise began the evening by playing G F Handel’s 'Sonata No 5'. It started on a slow note and soon, became slightly upbeat with sharper tunes.

After this, Laura gave a solo performance of J S Bach’s Suite 2 in D-minor — Sarabande. This piece was very soulful and sullen but picked up in between. Soon the audience was listening to Laura and Luise’s duet performance of J Halvorsen’s Passacaglia. The cello gave out a deep sound while the violin was sharper to listen to. Both ended in unison and had the audience giving a round of
applause.

The next part of the evening had a piano solo by Berenice, who started with Sonatina by Carlos Guastavino. The song conveyed the nostalgia of the Argentinean folk idiom in a classical
composition.

The piece was smooth and like a breeze to listen to. Milonga by Alberto Ginastera started with a bang and rose to stronger notes as it was played beautifully. It had alternating feelings of sadness and joy.

Malambo by Alberto Ginastera, was rhythmic song and a pleasure to listen to. Some of the other songs played during the evening were Bailecito by Carlos Guastavino and Milonga Del Angel by Astor Piazzolla.

A powerful group performance by the three artistes brought the beautiful concert to an end.
