BJP will be back, says Rajnath

We accepted the ideology of cultural nationalism

BJP supremo Rajnath Singh emphasised this while inaugurating the two-day national executive meeting of the party’s youth wing, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), here on Sunday.

“The election results were not as per our expectations, but that should not disappoint us. The fact that the Congress got 206 seats, the BJP 116 and all other parties just around 20 odd seats each, shows that the nation is moving towards a bi-polar polity. And our time will come again,” Singh said.

He exhorted the delegates, saying they should be proud of being a part of an organisation that had a strong ideological base. “I can say with confidence that no other party today can boast of an ideology which governs it. Our ideology is of cultural nationalism which gives inspiration to the party, and this cannot be measured on the parameters of electoral gains or losses,” he said.

Singh also dismissed the allegation by the Congress and several other parties that the BJP was a communal party, and said: “We accepted the ideology of cultural nationalism to build a strong nation as we also believe in the dictum of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’. How can a party like the BJP, which follows such a strong path of inclusive approach and nation building, be termed as communal?”

Asking the young members of the party to remain level headed during times of crisis, he said: “The need of the hour is to expand one’s mental horizons. Only then one can achieve the desired results.”

“It is good to be ambitious, but at the same time one should not feel insecure if one does not get the desired results despite making efforts. Whatever position you earn in the party, give it your best shot, don’t jump the gun, be patient and work hard, your time will come,” he said.
