Census kicks off in Kodagu

1123 enumerators deployed for collecting information in the district

The enumerators had visited the houses of Assembly Speaker K G Bopaiah, Deputy Commissioner K H Ashwathanarayana Gowda, Superintendent of Police Manjunath Annigeri, CMC President H M Nandakumar, Vice-President Vasantha Keshava, Zilla Panchayat President Shantheyanda Ravikushalappa and others to collect details.

Speaking on the occasion, Bopaiah said that census is essential for framing programmes for the development of the country. He called upon the public to provide accurate information to the enumerators. The census will help in getting information on the development of the country.

The district has 1,156 census blocks. School teachers have been deployed for census work. There are 1,123 enumerators in the district.

Six enumerators will have a supervisor. A total of 189 supervisors have been deployed. To train the enumerators, 23 trainers were utilised.

The enumerators, and superviors have been given three day training. Enumerators will visit all houses and collect 29 type of information from the people. It mandatory that the people should provide correct and complete information to the enumerators, said Deputy Commissioner Ashwathanarayana Gowda.
