Fine strains

Sapthak is holding a music programme on February 13, 5.30 pm at Havyaka Sabha Bhavan, 8th Main, 11th Cross, near Railway Station, Malleswaram. On the occasion, there will be a vocal recital by Mahalakshmi Shenoy. Raghavendra Nakod will be on tabla, Sateesh Kolli on harmonium, Radhakrishna on sitar and Rajendra Nakod on tabla.

Unique rendition

A special Portuguese Fado and Goan music concert, featuring the celebrated Fado singer
Sonia Shirsat, is being organised by The Bangalore School of Music, Karnataka Goan Association and Catholic Club.

The concert will be held on February 12, 7.30 pm at Catholic Club, Museum Road (behind St Patrick’s Church). In a first-of-its-kind concert in Bangalore — Sonia will present a combination of traditional and contemporary Fados, accompanied by Portuguese musicians Flavio Cardoso and Pedro Soares — and follow that up with an exhilarating
rendition of Goan favourites, accompanied by renowned Goan musician Allan

‘Beqarar Dil...’

Documentary play

An upcoming documentary play, called A Small Small World, based on the story of the same name by Philip Haucke, will be staged at  Ranga Shankara on February 12, 7.30 pm and February 13, 3.30 pm and 7.30 pm.

The play will be staged at Goethe-Institut Max Mueller Bhavan on February 18, 6.30 pm. It is written, directed and produced by Konradin Kunze and Sophia Stepf. The cast has Konradin Kunze and Abhishek Majumdar. The performance is in English and the duration is 90 minutes. Two actors with minimal sets and a camera, re-imagine scenes from Hamidur’s life.

The play questions the idea of representing or acting somebody else’s story and seeks to find grains of truth in the fiction that is called documentary. For tickets, log on to or call 9886370614.

‘Kalotsav 2011’

As part of its diamond jubilee celebrations, Sree Ramakrishna Bhajan Sabha Trust, Ulsoor has organised a series of music concerts by well-known artistes at Odukathur Mutt Hall, near Ulsoor lake.

Kalotsav 2011 will be inaugurated by Madurai T N Seshagopalan on February 12, 5.15 pm.

It will feature T N Seshagopalan on February 12, Mysore Nagaraj and Manjunath on February 13, Gayathri Venkataraghavan on February 14, Saketharaman on February 15, Unnikrishnan on February 16, Sowmya on February 17, Malladi Brothers on February 18 and T V Sankaranarayanan on February 19.

‘Purandara Sapthaha Festival’

Saralaya Sisters will be performing at ISKCON, as part of the Purandara Sapthaha Festival on February 13, from 5 pm to 7 pm.

The concert will comprise compositions of Saint Purandara Dasa.
