Indian Steam Railway Society conference tomorrow

Eminent steam locomotive historian from UK Laurie Marshall will deliver his address at the conference, which will also see an exhibition on steam locomotives.

A colourful presentation about the resurrection of Rewari steam locomotive shed will also be organised, said a Railway official.

The shed has emerged as the only tourist attraction of its kind in the world where nine working steam locomotives can be seen under one roof, the official said.

Senior officials from INTACH and ASI are also expected to attend the conference along with
Railway Board members.

Steam locomotives were phased out from Indian Railway network in the 1980s and early 1990s.
