PM takes UDF into poll mode

Keeping in mind the upcoming Assembly elections in the state, the Prime Minister listed a number of development activities, investment decisions and prestigious institutions that his government had facilitated for Kerala in the last few years. However, in the same breath, Singh pointed out that the state had not derived much benefits from the centrally-sponsored schemes.

“The Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission is an example. The state government needs to show more interest and sincerity for implementation of the centrally sponsored schemes,’’ he said. The UPA Government was committed to helping the State to realise its full development potential. “However, the state must do more to improve its image as an investment friendly place. The area of labour relations in factories and enterprises all across Kerala is something we need to take a close look at,” he added.
