The cut at this special event, where amateurs are paired with the pros, comes after 54 holes and only top-60 and ties make the final round at the famous Pebble Beach. On the second day, Atwal, starting on tenth, had birdies on the 12th, 15th and 16th, but dropped a shot on the 18th.

On the second nine, he had birdies on the fifth and sixth. Steve Marino added a 66 to his first round 65 to be 13-under 141 and lead D A Points by four shots. Points had rounds of 63 and 70.

There is a large group at seven-under and it included Padraig Harrington, who played with Marino.
