Not interested in cameos

He doesn’t want to do cameos right now, but Arjun Rampal has agreed to play a small part in David Dhawan’s Rascals.

It was Sanjay Dutt, the producer of the movie, who convinced him to accept the offer.

“Yes, I finally agreed to do Rascals. I had always wanted to work with David Dhawan. And it is Sanjay Dutt’s first production. So it’s all the more special. I have about 20 days of work. However, cameos as a rule are not what I’m looking at in my career right now,” said Arjun before leaving for Bangkok to shoot for his part in the movie.

Initially, Arjun had said no to the role and informed Dhawan of his inability to accept the offer of the film that also has Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgan.

Says a source, “Although Arjun was tempted to work with David Dhawan for the first time, the last thing he wanted do was to get into the cameo space again. Repeatedly, film-makers have put Arjun in the cameo space with the promise of bigger roles later. Karan Johar and Farhan Akhtar had given Arjun walk-on parts in Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna and Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd. These led to sizeable parts in We Are Family and Rock On. But now Arjun is done with cameos.”

The 38-year-old Arjun is also looking forward to seeing how audiences react to his part of the main antagonist in Ra.One.

“I’ve played the bad guy successfully in Om Shanti Om.

Even in Raajneeti, my role had shades of grey. So there is no apprehension about the audiences accepting me in a negative role. At the end of the day, a good role is a good role — black, white or grey. I’m happy with the way my career has shaped up,” he said.

An array of awards for Ash

Film-buffs saw a lot of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the year 2010.  The actress had four major releases — Raavan, Robot, Action Replayy and Guzaarish. The reviews for her performances from critics and movie-going audiences were positive with each clearly stating that Aishwarya was able to give a new life to each character she portrayed.

If that wasn’t enough, a number of awards have also been given to her for these films. Ash started the season of awards with a bang as she was awarded the Actress Of The Decade at the Big Star Entertainment Awards. At the Apsara Awards, she was conferred with the President’s Honour for the cinematic excellence of her work as the leading female actor in the film Guzaarish.

This winning streak continued when she got the Best Actress — Critic’s Category at the Zee Cine Awards held at Singapore and she got an award for the Best Actress — Drama Category for her role in Guzaarish at the recently-concluded Stardust Awards.
