Ex-minister promises funds for housing complex at shrine

State’s Special Representative at New Delhi and former union minister, V Dhananjaykumar said the State Government has promised to release ` five crore to build a multi-floor housing complex at Shrikshetra Sharavanabelagola in the taluk.

He was speaking after inaugurating various religious programmes organised as part of the newly constructed Rathnatraya Jinamandira Vasthu Vidhana and Shanthi Theerthanakara Panchakalyan puja mahotsav here on Sunday.

The  authorities of the shrine had taken up the construction of the multi-floor complex to accommodate 400 devotees, during the  Mahamasthakabhisheka held in the year 2006. The complex work had stopped due to shortage of funds.

The seer Charukeerthi Bhattaraka reminded Dhanajayakumar about the release of funds from the government towards completion of the complex.

The former union minister said he had discussed the matter with the chief minister who promised to earmark ` five crore in the State budget for the year 2011-12.

Former MLA K P Maggannavar said several jain community students were lagging in education due to lack of encouragement.

The mutt has given impetus not only to religious activities but also to education of the students.

He wanted the authorities to open more schools for the benefit of the community students who have been doing well.

Seers Charukeerthi Bhattaraka, Jnanasagar Maharaj,  former MLA Ilkal Vijaykumar, State Minorities Commission Member Padma Jain, Hassan District Central Co-operative Bank president (HDCC) C N Balakrishna, Rashtriya Jain Milan President Surendra Kumar Heggade and others were present on the occasion.
